The Petition · on 5/13/2011 8:04:17 PM 4161 Ilsola looked up from her desk and peered out the open window of her office. Twilight's approach painted the wispy clouds that hung low in the sky tangerine and fuschia, while the evening breeze began its early passage across the harbor. The breeze would eventually remove the heat of the day and bring the mists that the island was known for. Returning her gaze to her paperwork, Ilsola began to write another purchase order when a rap on her office door drew her attention. "I'm sorry to disturb you, Ilsola," said a soft voice from beyond the door. "You never disturb me, Lady Calanthe," was her easy reply. Placing the quill upon her desk, she leaned back in her chair. "Please, come in." The door opened to reveal not only the merchant Chisma, but several other merchants and workers from the island. Ilsola's eyebrow quirked upward slowly as she watched them file into her small office. Glancing beyond them, she saw that not all who had come to her door would fit into the space. "Is all--" Smiling, Chisma quickly dismissed Ilsola's question with a wave of her hand, which she then laid upon the shoulder of one of the local artisans. Ilsola recognized her as the local painter that had moved into a cottage in the Western Harbor, her name was Zieschka. "Lady Zieschka here has spoken to me, and I have spoken to several of the others gathered here. The consensus amid most of us is that you should postpone the voting tonight." Ilsola turned her gaze from Chisma to Zieschka and past her to the others gathered beyond her door. Many of them were grinning and nodding their agreement. "Perhaps, Lady Calanthe, you would be willing to enlighten me as to why I should postpone something as important as the council vote." "I think it might be best if I let Lady Zieschka have the honors," Chisma replied with a bit of amusement in her voice. Zieschka took a deep breath and began to speak in a hurried fashion, "Well, Ilsola, I was with several of the guests and citizens of the Island having tea and we were discussing all manner of things." Ilsola shared a glance with Lady Chisma. Both knew that her ea parties were more gossip than anything. "Well, Miss Ilsola, we came to the conclusion at tea that most of the other council choices aren't good for Mist Harbor. Master Stone isn't from Mist Harbor, Master Plaitime is a thief from out of Solhaven, Whiud, no offense to the kind hearted man, is hard to understand, and we, well, we think that you are doing a wonderful job and should cancel the election all together," said Zieschka and then, she added in a rush, "And just keep doing the job your doing." Ilsola blinked several times in surprise and glanced up from Zieschka to Chisma. The elf nodded and then glanced behind her to where several other merchants and clerks of the city were also nodding. "I don't know that I can cancel the election at such a late time..." "Postpone it? Let us at least put out a petition to see how many agree to this proposal?" Zieschka responded. "You may be surprised at what the answer would be, Ilsola." Sighing, Ilsola said, "I am here to serve the Island and if this is what you wish, then I will put out a petition." ~*~ OOC Note ~*~ All Citizens, Guests, and Four Wind Island Members are invited to visit Mist Harbor where they will find two petitions. One is to continue with the scheduled election, though slightly delayed, and the other is to absolve the Merchant Council and name Lady Ilsola as the Town Administrator, which will have all the duties and responsibilities of a mayor. Please be sure to read each sign before adding your name to a petition.
