Hey guys, Since this applies to a few different Arkati (see further below), I'm posting this in the general folder instead of 5 times in each of the specific folders. Anyway... I'm looking for some help with some wedding clerics/ceremonies that will be Arkati-based in nature. So, I'm doing a tiny little contest for those of you who are interested in this sort of thing. Here's what you'll need to be supplying for the contest: (1) the LOOK description for a cleric. This should include all the normal things we see when we look at a character EXCEPT their actual name. You can add whatever title you feel is appropriate, and you can get as crazy as you want on the clothing (just keep it within the appropriate genre.) (2) a general description of the cleric's personality (This can just be a few words. Nothing longer than a short paragraph. If they have any bad or good habits -- like they're a boozer or a narcoleptic or very clean or something, mention that here.) (3) a sentence or two about what your cleric thinks about their Arkati (4) a sentence or two about what your cleric thinks about marriage/weddings (5) a short wedding ceremony -- there is an example of the one from the WD that should be used as a general guideline in terms of length pasted at the bottom of this post. You can get a little longer than the example -- but don't go overboard -- keep it succinct. You do not have to include singing -- that's just in this particular example. (6) 4-8 "idle" messages -- this is the messaging that fires every few minutes and allows the NPC in a room to do one of several random messages (idle messages!) I am looking for all of the above for clerics for the following Arkati: Kai, Koar, Lumnis, Andelas, Tonis You may enter ONE cleric for the contest per account -- you can choose which Arkati type, but you MUST include #1-6 in your entry for it to be considered a complete and valid entry. Winners of the contest will receive their choice of ONE of the following: 2 ezscripts to ONE non-scripted item; 3 alterations or lightening/deepenings (the lightening and deepening can only be done once per item) -- you can mix and match this; feature alteration; tattoo; common flare added to any item 5x or under; OR, if approved, addition of an existing FLUFF script with 8 or fewer verb traps to an appropriate non-scripted item (some scripts will be approved, some won't -- totally will depend on what it is you're requesting) And, of course, you'll see your messaging come to life at some point or another. * If you wish to enter a cleric, you must have your entry sent to me (Kaikala) by March 15, 2010. * You must title your email "Cleric Wedding Contest - - ". For example, "Cleric Wedding Contest - Tonis - Kaikala" * You should email your entry to GS4-KAIKALA@PLAY.NET. * You must include your character's name and your account name in your email. (And please don't give me your account password, because I really don't want access to that kind of thing.) If you have any questions, definitely feel free to ask. You can post on the forums, though email is probably the best way to ensure I'll get your question in a timely manner. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Example ceremony -- this is from the WD cleric, who was dedicated to Cholen.: With abandon, the cleric flings his arms into the air in a gesture of invocation. He almost overbalances, but with a practiced movement, his right foot shoots out backwards and he rights himself. "Friends and Acquaintances, Practiced Voyagers and Landlocked Souls, Experienced Wedding-goers and Wedding Neophytes, I beseech you to listen!" he cries out. "We gather here today, in what I like to think is Cholen's presence-- but who knows with him as he might be off doing something else right at the moment...." He coughs slightly to cover this minor break in his concentration, then starts again. "We are gathered here to witness the promise of undying love between and ." He smiles fondly at the couple and in spite of his bad jokes and seemingly cavalier approach, he seems genuinely happy. "And with no further delay, I pronounce this couple married! And if anyone denies my right then let them take it up with Cholen!" With that, he takes a step forward and kisses both and on their foreheads. "May Cholen's blessings follow you, my friends, for if they do, you will always be happy and will want for nothing in this life." Then, in a pleasing baritone, he happily sings: "Sing high, sing low Good cheer bestow Let through the world the word be spread Raise voice in song Sing loud, sing long For and are good and wed!" There needs to be a slight amendment to the small ceremony contest that was announced earlier. In addition to the other arkati that were announced as contest options (Kai, Koar, Lumnis, Andelas, Tonis), we're also including V'tull, Marlu, Phoen, Mularos, Charl, Lorminstra, Jastev, and Fash'lo'nae. For V'tull, Marlu, Phoen, or Mularos, please email your entries to GS4-Andraste@play.net For Charl, Lorminstra, Jastev, or Fash'lo'nae, please email your entries to GS4-Galene@play.net For Kai, Koar, Lumnis, Andelas, or Tonis, please email your entries GS4-Kaikala@play.net I'm also adding a #7 to the list of requirements: (7) Entrants should include the description of a single room where the cleric would perform the ceremony. This can be anything theme-related to the arkati that you choose. All other rules and prizes remain the same across the board. Please remember that your entry may be need to be modified if chosen as a winner. We try to avoid this as much as possible, but sometimes it is necessary. For general questions about the contest, the best way to contact us is via email at gs4weddings@simutronics.com Thanks for your participation! ~Galene ___________________ (1) the LOOK description for a cleric. This should include all the normal things we see when we look at a character EXCEPT their actual name. You can add whatever title you feel is appropriate, and you can get as crazy as you want on the clothing You see XXXX the patriarch He appears to be a dwarf. He is shorter than average and appears to wizened with age. He has dark-haloed dark eyes and wrinked skin. He is bald. He has a drooping white moustache. His sagging jowels are accentuated by his sallow cheekbones. His eyes hold a vacant gaze. He is in good shape. He is wearing an elegant ebon robe with silver fists on each shoulder, a low-slung belt with ebon prayer beads, brown open-toed leather sandals, white socks with a hole in the toes and a pair of thick rimmed spectacles. Around his neck, you notice a symbol of Kai. He is holding a crinkled book embedded with ceremonial symbols. (2) a general description of the cleric's personality (This can just be a few words. Nothing longer than a short paragraph. If they have any bad or good habits -- like they're a boozer or a narcoleptic or very clean or something, mention that here.) This cleric is extremely forgetful but always seems to muddle through. (3) a sentence or two about what your cleric thinks about their Arkati Kai, through strength and prowess, allows for the defence of others, through physical challenge. (4) a sentence or two about what your cleric thinks about marriage/weddings Weddings are a good thing. At times the cleric has trouble remembering why. (5) a short wedding ceremony -- there is an example of the one from the WD that should be used as a general guideline in terms of length pasted at the bottom of this post. You can get a little longer than the example -- but don't go overboard -- keep it succinct. You do not have to include singing -- that's just in this particular example. " In the midst of life, we are in death my friends. We are here today to mourn..." His brow furrows as he turns over a few pages of his crinkled book. He mutters: "wrong page.. let us begin again " The cleric pulls his spectacles down his nose, gazing into the distance. He strokes his moustache with forefinger and thumb and motions for all assembled to kneel. "To the family and friends of the blessed two, I bid you welcome." With a wizened finger the cleric pushes his spectacles to his eyes and glances at his book. " To all those assembled here I say that marriage is not simply to melding of two hearts, but the bonding of two souls.." He stares vacantly for a moment before refocusing on the couple. " Physical Strength and Athletic Prowess are Kai's gifts to you. Prowess to overcome the hurdles of life; Strength to support one another in good times and bad. He smiles at the couple, the wrinkles on his face creasing further. He nods gently and winks knowingly. He closes his book. "Accepting these gifts will reinforce the bonds between you, for all time." The cleric raises his hands for all but the couple to stand. With palms raised, and eyes fixed on the couple, the cleric recites: "To both I say; As koar to Kai; You have been defeated; Love has conquered your hearts; Be joined, be joyous" The cleric tucks his book within his robes and places his hands on the couples' heads. "Let all assembled hear that these two.. " The cleric's brow furrow for a moment as he concentrates. He gives a sigh of relief and continues: "... and are now married. May Kai give them long life and happiness" He smiles fondly at the couple and in spite of his bad jokes and seemingly cavalier approach, he seems genuinely happy. "And with no further delay, I pronounce this couple married! And if anyone denies my right then let them take it up with Cholen!" With that, he takes a step forward and kisses both and on their foreheads. Compared to other dwarves you've seen around town, Grondihaf is of average height, but broader through the shoulders than most. Wearing a sleeveless tunic beneath a leather smithing apron, he looks to have come recently from working at an anvil awash in the heat of a forge. His face is set in a positively grim expression, and his clothing is uniformly drab. His grey beard is neatly tucked behind his belt. and his hair is cut very short. > http://www.play.net/forums/messages.asp?forum=102&category=11&topic= 2&message=815 Agarnil Kris starts mixing different herbs and liquids into his latest brew. The cleric turns his prayerbeads between thumb and forefinger, smiling somewhat vacantly. The cleric plucks a thread of hair from his robe and releases it to the ground. The cleric gazes up and the sky for a moment, smiling slightly before lowering his head again. The cleric pauses for a moment, twirling the end of his moustache gently. The cleric raises his hand to his mouth and clears his throat with a long pronounced cough. The cleric thumbs through the pages in his book and nods slowly.
