Today is Niiman, day 1 of the month Lumnea in the year 5117. It is 20:41 by the elven time standard. It is currently late evening. High in the evening sky, a small, colorful sphere floats toward the city. As the sphere in the sky grows closer to the city, its shape becomes more clear. A large balloon suspended over a huge wicker basket approaches the city. The balloon begins to descend over the canyon at Cobblestone Road. As the balloon grows ever closer to the ground, a small bearded face peeks over the side of the basket. Her arm waves over her head, greeting those on the ground. The basket touches the ground at last! Prince Voregrek and Eldalina climb over the side, grinning at the crowd! [Cobblestone Road, Canyon] The road follows the river into a canyon, which narrows to the south. The craggy, reddish-brown rock towers hundreds of feet overhead. At the southern end of the canyon, a walled town sits at the base of the peak. The clang of a bell and the distant bustle of the crowd drift along the canyon. A squat barge plies the river toward the town, its deck piled high with fresh-cut timber and dozing dwarves. You also see a huge spherical balloon with a woven wicker basket suspended beneath, the Soom disk, a malcontent geyser spirit that is flying around, the fiery red Vayek disk, the Beldannon disk, a bright-eyed lightning wyrdling, the Harkel disk and a trail leading up the canyon wall. Also here: Futtilo, Eldalina, Danialle, Lord Gesaril, Deza, Master Elementz, Aubriella, Hoy, Aaysia, Salarus, Azerik, Lord Realk, Rasko, Roiken, Lady Ferliev, Commander Roblar, Sorrenn, Prince Voregrek, Lady Soom, Dannia, Relic Hunter Silversoft, Vayek, Mistress Foxs, Mistress Luadilu, Lord Nordred, Regnarohk, Mister Beldannon, Great Lord Pendowilt, Fleurs, Frorin, Tyvorheas, Keilani, Relic Hunter Harkel, Jurist of Claw Sentral Tyvorheas removes a hollowed-out narwhal horn etched with elven warships braving rough seas from his belt. Tyvorheas raises his narwhal horn in a toast and proclaims: "To the curmudgeonly among us, may you drink in surly and judgmental silence!" Eldalina waves. Eldalina recites: "Greetings townsfolk! Welcome to our Anniversary Celebration!" You see Eldalina the Town Liason. She appears to be a Dwarf of the Borthuum Clan. She is average height. She appears to be in her golden years. She has dusky deep brown eyes and ruddy skin. She has long, peppered coal black hair worn in a bun. She has a weathered face, a prominent nose and a neatly groomed beard braided and bound by an eonake clip. She has calloused fingertips. Eldalina exclaims, "Prince Voregrek and I have a few opening words to say, then we'll go over the schedule a bit and show you all where the new brews are!" Eldalina recites: "And now, lend an ear to your Prince, who will tell us of the original balloon!" Voregrek shifts his weight. You see Prince Voregrek Borthuum. He appears to be a Dwarf of the Borthuum Clan. He is taller than average. He appears to be very young. He has gold-flecked ale-brown eyes and copper skin. He has very short, tousled auburn hair with lighter streaks. He is in good shape. He is wearing a voluminous grey cape, a worn mining pack, an invar-edged dwarven battle harness over some ora-veined glaes half-plate, a deep black mithril mesh satchel, a pair of loose grey cotton pants, and some ash-laden glaes-toed boots. Voregrek recites: "And now, a brief history of the construction of the original Gulroten clan balloon. " Voregrek says, "Of which this is a replica, clearly." Eldalina starts chortling. Voregrek recites: "The idea of creating a balloon large enough to accommodate a significant number of dwarves took foresight. What in the more modern world was considered common place, was beyond the wildest dreams of most dwarves, even those within the Gulroten clan. The balloon's construction was a labor of love and a challenging task for which the Gulroten clan were well suited. The design was not too distinct from many smaller single-person crafts, which at the time experimented with a strong lightweight basket suspended below a spherical balloon envelope." Voregrek appraises the balloon's basket. Voregrek grunts and nods. Voregrek recites: "The basket was built out of woven wicker and partitioned to segregate the centrally positioned fueling mechanism from up to 30 passengers, mining gear, charts, compasses, and provisions. The construction of the balloon envelope required the purchase of large quantities of Elven veniom to supplement that meager quantity taken from the Gulroten mines. Gwartilpo wheels, the latest invention by the Krethuum Clan for the spinning of metal thread, whirred day and night, created the thread to attach to the basket." You gaze with interest at a huge spherical balloon with a woven wicker basket suspended beneath. Voregrek recites: "In 4997, twenty-eight dwarves set off from the center of the Bortrazo's Canyon. By use of favorable winds they drifted slowly westward to thunderous applause and a fanfare equal to any ever seen before by the Gulroten clan. The names of the travelers are listed in the Borthuum Mining Company Folios, but there is little other verbal or written reference to most of the travelers with two notable exceptions. The Kazunel clan claim two dwarven smiths called Rezudal and Kendukal left their fire forges to join the quest of Ghorsa Borthuum. Although their family names are not included in song, the song is full of heraldic imagery which helps to confirm their presence. Conversely, there is a poem now recited by the Krethuum Clan with a much different tone. A verse captures the somewhat disparaging tone, but also provides us with the names of two further travelers: " Eldalina just went through a huge spherical balloon with a woven wicker basket suspended beneath. Eldalina just arrived. Voregrek recites: "...duty forsaken, clan forsaken, Did Dradel and Bedric, Abandon stock on Vaslavia Meadows To aid in Borthuum quest No Krethuum gain, to Krethuum shame..." Voregrek bows with a flourish. Speaking to Voregrek, you say, "Excellent." Voregrek exclaims, "Eldalina will now share with you a bit more history of the arrival of our fine ancestors!" Eldalina grunts and nods. Eldalina recites: "And then we drink in celebration!" Eldalina recites: "An entry in the Borthuum Mining Company folio from 4997 makes reference to "...the winds blowing the balloon off course and the balloon coming to rest upon a peak." Beyond this there is scant indication in any text as to how the travelers came to arrive on an island that was descriptively so different from the famed Kezmon Isle. The group flew precariously above the volcanic isle and landed heavily on the most prominent point - the volcano now known as Stormbrow. The impact resulted in the balloon's virtual destruction, although miraculously there were no fatalities. The occupants were able to salvage a portion of their scattered resources. The volcano afforded them a good view of much of the semi-tropical island, from the western forests, to the magnificent central canyon and the river which meandered to the sea." Eldalina recites: "Ghorsa organized the group into working parties. Equipment was loaded onto their backs and they climbed somewhat precariously down the volcano. Apprehension about potential hostility from an as yet unknown indigenous population was used by Ghorsa to keep the group unified as they focused on finding shelter before the onset of night. They camped in an opening halfway down the volcano, and the cavern provided the first taste of the riches to be found on the island: the precious material of glaes." Eldalina grunts with a sparkle in her eye! Eldalina recites: "Within a few days, much of the exterior of the island had been traversed and a rudimentary map created, which pinpointed the first obvious veins of rare and valuable minerals. Glaes was still a rare material, much prized for its strength and durability, and they had discovered large veins, of varying colors, including the rarest rainbow glaes. Assured that the island was uninhabited, Ghorsa claimed it for himself and declared that the island would be called "Teras" (meaning "wonder or marvel" in the Gulroten dialect). " Eldalina gestures grandly to the land around her! Speaking to Eldalina, Voregrek says, "Thank you." Voregrek says, "If you would like to see this rendition of the famous balloon, we will take you inside the basket. There is some lovely wine... as some can already attest to..." Voregrek clears his throat. Voregrek exclaims, "And when you're served, you will receive a glass to commemorate this momentous occasion!" Voregrek grunts and nods. Prince Voregrek just went through a huge spherical balloon with a woven wicker basket suspended beneath. >go balloon [Hot Air Balloon, Basket - ] This unusually spacious basket has been constructed out of woven wicker. A partition segregates the centrally positioned fueling mechanism from the rest of the space, where the passengers and supplies would be carried. Above, a huge, spherical balloon envelope is visible, attached to the sides of the basket by spun metal threads. A large crystal ice bucket sits in one corner, the top of a bottle peeking out. A rope ladder has been slung over the side, serving as a relatively easy exit from the basket. Obvious paths: none Roblar resignedly says, "Surely, we plummet to our doom." Voregrek says, "We're on the ground, so.. unlikely." You pour yourself some effervescent golden-bronze wine. You take a drink from your golden-bronze wine. Revitalizing! Truly exquisite -- a drink to make you sit up and take notice of the world. You take a drink from your golden-bronze wine. Effervescent bubbles burst over your tongue, accompanied by a heady wave of exquisite flavor. You are left holding an empty crystal glass. >tap glass You tap a fluted crystal glass with a rainbow glaes stem >read my glass In the Common language, it reads: ~120th Celebration of the Founding of Kharam-Dzu~ Voregrek recites: "The balloon will be here through the weekend, but as Eldalina and Beela will show you, there will be far, far more refreshments for you all to enjoy!" Voregrek recites: "For the moment, I leave you all in Eldalina's capable hands. I must meet with a group of elders that are investigating the recent oddities in creatures and lava." Voregrek recites: "I wish you all a wonderful evening. I will see you at the gala in three days" You turn to Voregrek and cheer! Speaking to Voregrek, you say, "Thank you for coming sir." Voregrek bows deeply, then waves. Eldalina just arrived. Foxs smirks as a haughty expression flits across her face. Eldalina recites: "Are we having fun so far?" Eldalina recites: "Alright, all of ye hold it down a moment, I have something important to say" Eldalina says, "And ya best listen." Eldalina recites: "Many moons back, someone cared enough about our fine town to send a fancy letter in to me and His Majesty." Eldalina recites: "This fine warrior and well rounded ale enthusiast inspired us to create what we hope you'll all enjoy for the next several days. " Bremerial ducks her head. Eldalina recites: "So, if you'd all raise your wine in a toast" Eldalina turns to face Bremerial. Speaking to Bremerial, Eldalina says, "Thank you for your loyalty and enthusiasm to our town." Eldalina clasps Bremerial’s hand, and she shakes it enthusiastically in return. Eldalina recites: "And now, let's go see where the new booze is!" Eldalina bursts out in a resounding cheer! Eldalina recites: "Join me, townsfolk!" Eldalina's group just climbed down a rope ladder. Eldalina yells, "Come now if you're comin!" {Walk to Glaes and Dragonstail} Eldalina points at a large garden pavilion. Eldalina says, "This will be a gathering place through the weekend." Eldalina's group just entered a large garden pavilion. [Garden Pavilion, Meets - 1950] Daylight filters in through the thin canvas of this large, festive tent. Pieces of bright, multicolored cloth festoon the room from the peak to each corner. Most of the area is wide open, allowing for a large gathering. A tall glaes-framed mirror stands off to one side of a particolored flap. Eldalina says, "'To the southeast, there's a barmaid who'll host the drinking game for the next few days. Enjoy that on your own time, and don't blame me if you lose all your coin or hit your head." Eldalina exclaims, "To the next!" Eldalina's group just went southwest. [Garden Pavilion, Eats] Several torches light the room with bright, flickering light. Beneath a brightly inked banner, decorated tables hold a variety of cuisine from the many towns of Elanthia. Chairs are arranged in clusters around the room, offering places to rest and socialize. You also see a keg of Teras Anniversary stout, a keg of Teras Anniversary ale and a keg of Teras Anniversary beer. Eldalina says, "The stout, ale, and beer are all new flavors for you to enjoy! We will probably see them at Shorga's later on, or in the brewery." Eldalina exclaims, "But for now, bottomless kegs!" Eldalina recites: "Also!" Eldalina glances at some colorfully decorated tables. Looking at the tables, you see a River's Rest table, a Teras Isle table, a Zul Logoth table, an Icemule Trace table, a Ta'Illistim table, a Ta'Vaalor table and a Wehnimer's Landing table. Eldalina says, "HOLD STILL." Eldalina says, "As I was saying." Eldalina says, "The tables represent all those other towns around the lands. Cysaegir food is awful. Just awful. We left it out." Eldalina starts chortling. Eldalina says, "You want more pointy ear food, you go there yourself." Eldalina grunts in annoyance, rolling her eyes. Eldalina starts chortling. Eldalina glances to her right. Eldalina recites: "And a Bigger and Better Party Room opened in Stormbrow Gallery!" Eldalina says, "You'll see it later with Beela." Eldalina says, "Now, one more thing before we head to the museum." Eldalina recites: "Some of you have citizens pins!" Eldalina recites: "If you don't, and you're a citizen, I'll be passing more out over the next week." Eldalina recites: "We spent some time with a royal magician and a royal geologist and a few other .. well, nevermind. You likely don't wanna know who" Eldalina exclaims, "The pins will now put ash all over ya when ya tap 'em!" Eldalina bursts out in a resounding cheer! Eldalina says, "For now, let's head out to the museum and Beela will take over." {Group exits pavilion} Eldalina's group just went behind a particolored flap. [Glaes and Dragonstail] The tunnel turns here, as Glaes and Dragonstail meet. One building stands out, a large, black granite structure. A staircase of grey and white marble leads up to the mithril gates, which are flanked by a pair of stone manticores. The dwarves who amble in and out look to be prosperous sorts. You also see a red-necked falcon that is flying around, a mud-splattered cheetah, a lightning wyrdling and a large garden pavilion. Eldalina says, "Gonna get a snack." Eldalina grunts, the gleam of silver in her eye! Eldalina just entered a large garden pavilion. Beela recites: "How many of you have visited the Stormbrow Gallery before?" Beela recites: "You'll see lots of things tonight, but I invite you to wander on your own to see all the details. We'll cover highlights in the interest of time, and everyone likely getting drunk as we walk" Beela's group just climbed up a marble staircase. [Stormbrow Gallery, Lobby] The moonlight adds an ethereal glow to the torchlight in the room. A wide staircase leads upward, spiraling round and round beneath the enormous, glass dome ceiling. You also see a wide staircase. Beela says, "At the gallery, we strive to feature so many of the important aspect of life on Teras. This museum was reopened several years ago. We will be adding a few new displays in the near future with donations from some townsfolk." Beela says, "I'm sure you've all noticed, or at least heard rumors, of the lava tube acting up recently." Beela furrows her brow. Beela says, "Well, let me assure you that this one is .. safe." Beela points at a lava tube. Beela exclaims, "Let's go!" Beela's group just went through a lava tube. [Gallery, Inside the Eye] A stone platform justs out like a pier over a lake of molton red lava, fed by the many tubes that flow down the rocky walls. Crude images have been carved into the walls of the volcano, representing fiery beasts and hideous creatures. An uneven steel staircase has been constructed along one side. Its steps are crooked and tilted, but the bolts that secure it to the wall seem strong enough. Obvious exits: out Beela exclaims, "Life inside the volcano!" A long leather couch stands against the far wall near a brass and glass serving cart. Overhead, a huge chandelier of wrought iron holds thick, red pillar candles. In the center of the room stands a marble-topped table covered with a lush buffet of tantalizing foods. Music wafts up a set of three steps from the dance floor. You also see a rosewood archway. Obvious exits: none Beela's group just went through a rosewood archway. [Stormbrow Lounge, Foyer - ] The curved, vaulted ceiling of this foyer is covered with hand-painted tiles. Regional flowers and herbs have been painted on each in vibrant hues. A prim dwarven hostess stands behind a narrow wooden podium near a rosewood archway. Moonbeams cast a glow through a set of etched glass doors. You also see a spiraling hall leading back to the displays. Obvious exits: none Beela points at a set of etched glass doors. Beela's group just went through a set of etched glass doors. [Stormbrow Patio - ] Candles set upon small round tables cast dancing shadows across this open patio. Several cushioned garden benches offer comfortable seating amidst the flickering light. Tall potted plants stand to either side of a set of etched glass doors which lead indoors. Hand-painted tiles decorate the floor with muted hues of brostheras, bamboo, and goldenrod. Blazing torches are mounted on the stone wall which surrounds the area. Obvious paths: none You grin at Beela. Beela says, "A lovely place to rest quietly." Beela smiles. Beela's group just went through a set of etched glass doors. [Gallery, Ghorsa's Balloon - ] The ceiling and walls in this room have been painted pale blue, with fluffy white clouds here and there. On the floor is an intricately woven rug that is entirely comprised of a landscape. Tiny trees and shrubs, and the peaks of mountains in detailed perspective, give the illusion of the lay of the land from a bird's-eye view. A colorful patched linen balloon is suspended above a large and sturdy woven basket. Next to the basket is a tall sign. You also see a spiraling hall and a descending ramp. Obvious exits: north, west Beela's group just went west. [Gallery, Children's Room - ] Sections of shelving have been built into the walls over a glass wall case. Soft, playful music fills the air in a happy medley of recorder and drum. Hanging from the peaked ceiling, colorful stringed puppets dance overhead. A little mithril gong is mounted on a frame in the corner opposite the room's displays. You also see a pair of glass doors and some built-in shelving. Obvious exits: east Beela smiles. Beela says, "This is my favorite place in the museum." Beela glances at some marionettes. Beela says, "You all should know better than to ring the gong in town." Beela laughs softly, trying to hide her amusement. Beela says, "But let's find out why." Beela recites: "Ring the gong!" >ring gong You raise the mallet and use it to strike the gong. The reverberations echo around you, but you are slowly overwhelmed by the louder sound of water rising. Suddenly, you lose your footing as the floor beneath you gives way and a roaring wave rises up and knocks you off your feet, dragging you into the tumultuous pool beneath! [Gallery, Nelemar Room - ] From one azure wall to the other, this room is filled with swirling water. The currents tug, though not fiercely, creating waves that lap against some cracked marble steps. The domed ceiling is clear glass through which sunbeams stream, bouncing off the water. You also see a triton dissembler that appears rather calm, an ethereal triton sentry that appears rather calm, a spectral triton defender that appears rather calm, a triton executioner that appears rather calm, a siren that appears to be rather calm, a triton radical that appears rather calm, a greater water elemental that appears rather calm and a triton executioner that appears rather calm. Obvious exits: none The water elemental's upper body is that of a humanoid, while its lower body forms a turbulent, watery vortex. The facial features of the elemental creature are vague and shifting, rippling with every contortion of its face. Sloshing and splashing noises accompany each movement of the water elemental, along with an odd gurgling. It also wears a badge that reads, "Stormbrow Janitorial Services." Weight carefully balanced upon its massive tail, the triton dissembler walks rigidly upright, moving with self-absorbed elegance. Luminous dark blue eyes are set deeply in the sockets of her fine-boned head where delicate, fleshy lips curve into an unpleasant smile. The dissembler's long, translucently webbed hands bear curved claws, carefully filed to tapered points and painted with gold lacquer. This pretense to arrogant refinement belies the feverishly clammy sweat covering the creature's slick, sea green hide. She also wears a badge that reads, "Stormbrow Landscaping Services." Moving quietly on wide, webbed feet, the triton magus seems to slip between the shadows, his damp mottled flesh shifting colors with the surroundings. The creature pauses frequently, his flared nostrils quivering as if seeking beings as nearly invisible as he. A long row of tiny needle-sharp teeth protrudes from grey gums, visible behind his curled, wet lips. A loose robe in varying shades of grey and green covers the magus, hanging just below his twitching tail. He also wears a badge that reads, "Stormbrow Education Committee." The siren is a peculiar vision of beauty from the sea. Though her lower body is that of an iridescently scaled fish, it takes away nothing from the rest of her ravishingly feminine figure draped in long, rich brown hair and surrounded by a mystical aura. Discretely hidden webbing beneath her arms that aids in navigating deep waters has given rise to the erroneous legend that the siren can also fly. She also wears a badge that reads, "Stormbrow Tour Guide." The triton executioner scans its surroundings with merciless eyes as if seeking its next client. Heavy, leathery lips are pulled into a perpetually disgusted sneer, pinching the creature's nostrils into narrow slits. Animal muscles, powerfully knotted beneath her moist blue-green skin, seem ready to spring in any direction. The executioner wears a dark blue tabard emblazoned with a silver wave upon the chest. She also wears a badge that reads, "Stormbrow Fundraising Department." The triton sentry holds himself erect as he skims along the ground on long-nailed translucent webbed feet. Obsessively alert, the creature sniffs constantly and halts to listen every few moments. Despite empty eye sockets, constantly weeping viscous green mucus, he peers into the shadows for infiltrators, his head constantly turning with rapid, jerky motions. Threadbare green-belted robes cover his insubstantial frame. He also wears a badge that reads, "Stormbrow Security." The triton defender forges ahead on powerful legs, as if unaware of their lack of substance, while thick and ropey muscles bunch powerfully along her oddly translucent arms. The skin covering her squat ethereal frame is the color of bleached, dirty leather and seems to retain the clammy wetness of living amphibians. Sweeping behind her muscled limbs, a long tail floats after the creature like a recently abandoned child. She also wears a badge that reads, "Stormbrow Exhibit Acquisitions." Glaring angrily and gnashing his sharp yellowed teeth, the triton radical stalks along muttering to himself as if involved in angry debate with a phantasmal antagonist. Pale, red-rimmed eyes sit deep in a heavy-boned skull, which perches upon a long, slender neck. The radical's body pitches forward alarmingly, so only the weight of his tail prevents a return to a four-legged posture. Upon his tapered brow is set a golden crown bearing a large, wave-etched crystal drop. He also wears a badge that reads, "Stormbrow Community Relations." Beela recites: "Welcome to our employee area! Please look at each of them, they don't get due credit often enough!" Beela says, "Feel free to play in here anytime. Bring guests. Terrify them." Beela's group just climbed up some cracked marble steps. Beela recites: "How many of you knew the town had a shop in the museum?" Beela asks, "With limited edition items found nowhere else in the lands?" Beela's group just went through a pair of glass doors. [Stormbrow Gift Shop - ] This spacious room is well lit by the numerous torches hung on every wall. A sturdy dwarf mannequin stands near a pair of glass doors, as if appreciating the shop's selection of merchandise. The shop clerk stands behind a glass display case, which is situated in the center of the room next to a gift-wrapping table. A tall weapons rack has been bolted to the back wall, far from the more fragile of the shop's wares, including a narrow glass shelf which stands near the museum exit. Beela exclaims, "Here it is!" Beela says, "You'll find cultural clothing and jewelry, some with somewhat rarer materials." Beela's group just went east. [Stormbrow Gift Shop - ] A polished round rosewood table with wrought iron legs stands as the focal point of this section of the gift shop. Atop it are a silver jewelry tree and a chiseled granite bowl, the contents of which glitter in the torchlight. To either side of the table stand a wooden chest of drawers and a darkly stained toy chest. Beela says, "Toys, too." Beela's group just went north. [Stormbrow Gift Shop, Gallery - ] Tall candelabra stand in every corner of this room, casting their illumination upon the paintings that hang on the walls. You also see a stout dwarven merchant and a tall rosewood stand with an ornately scripted sign on it. Beela says, "You can order terasian art work for your walls." Beela says, "This has been here for about eight years, folks." Beela says, "Glad you could come." Beela laughs softly, trying to hide her amusement. Beela says, "Now you know, it's off the children's room." Beela's group just went south. [Glaes and Dragonstail - ] The tunnel turns here, as Glaes and Dragonstail meet. One building stands out, a large, black granite structure. A staircase of grey and white marble leads up to the mithril gates, which are flanked by a pair of stone manticores. The dwarves who amble in and out look to be prosperous sorts. You also see a narrow dark walnut cart framed in delicate bronze nautilus shells with some stuff on it, a silk-covered mahogany barrow with some stuff on it and a large garden pavilion. Beela recites: "Eldalina will be in the pavilion in a few moments to hand out pins, too" Beela recites: "If you're a citizen and would like a pin, please hang out here for a moment! Thank you all for coming, and enjoy the rest of the week's festivities! Shops will be opening .. well, any time now!" Speaking graciously to Beela, Lasentra says, "Thank you for the tour." Beela disbands her group. Beela gestures and a shaft of scintillating light from somewhere above pierces the ceiling and engulfs her. When the light recedes Beela is no longer there. Eldalina just arrived. Eldalina says, "If you are a CITIZEN OF KHARAM DZU ONLY, please join me if you would like a pin." Eldalina recites: "In the meantime, eat, drink, and shop!"
