personal - GemStone IV interview with BUMPUR

Interview with bumpur

Interview held on Tilamaires, day 12 of the month Lormesta in the year 5110.

QUESTIONS

1: What is your name (required) and training level (not essential)

I'm Bumpur, and I have trained 67 times. Lady Sraven calls me Bumpur Car because of all the bumps and bruises I bring back for her every time I hunt.

2: How long have you wandered the lands?

A little over 15 years on and off, right after Gemstone became available on AOL.

3: What hunting style do you opt for?

Mstriking with two flaring katars combined with voln fu, combined with general bashing of things.

4: What percentage of your time do you spend hunting? How do you spend your other time?.

I spend about 20 percent of my time hunting. The other 80 percent is spent waiting for my buddy Nuc to catch up in trains so that we can hunt together.

5: What is and/or was your most enjoyable hunting area and why?

Grouping in hunting undead parties - tree spirits, arch wights and ghoul masters in the graveyard, and wraiths in the inn.

6: What do you enjoy most about your time in the lands?

Slow and steady pressure free character advancement and development. Also finding boxes or "phat lewtz" as some might call it..

7: Is there anyone within the lands that you admire? (Any profession) Who and why?

Buen and Pogy for fabulous roleplay. Callinar for hitting absurdly hard. A special thanks to Jeril and Xrothgar for all the warrior guild instructions they gave me.

8: What has been your best moment in the lands so far?

Exploring the first Juggernaut.

9: What has been your worst moment in the lands so far?

One time I was hunting giant spiders and mein golems. The golem shook the ground and I fell. I had lots of defensive spells so the spiders and golems could not hit me or injure me so I thought. And as I was lying down, I was webbed and somehow I still fell as I was lying down and broke my leg, then my other leg, followed by both my arms, until I bled to death. When I asked a GM how it is possible for someone lying down on the ground to fall and break all their limbs, the GM responded by saying "clearly the spiders got you good." That was pretty bad and is topped only by watching the general population decline of Elanthia. Every night used to be one big party. Not anymore.

10: What advice would you give to a new warrior?

Don't overlook Halflings! Also, unlike the other squishy professions, warriors have the best way of dealing with any attack. It's called getting hit, and hitting back.

11: If you had to do it all again, knowing what you now know, would you do anything differently?

I would encourage all warriors to train in side by side and hunt together more often.

12: Is there anything you want to add to this interview?
