personal - GemStone IV interview with geijon

Interview with Geijon Khyree

Interview held on Restday, the 30th day of Lormesta, in the year 5111.

QUESTIONS

1: What is your name (required) and training level (not essential)

Geijon Khyree, Husband to Evialla Violetskye, Son of Gaq Azan, Father to a few of Renown. As to my training, it depends on the Era. When I was young, when I was old, and when I was young again. I was rather shocked by some of the treatment my trainer gave me a few years ago. Today, I'm about 75 cycles through the Gauntlet.

2: How long have you wandered the lands?

I've called Wehnimers home for probably 17-18 (5093/5094)..

3: What hunting style do you opt for?

A Warrior is always versatile. I've kept sharp as needed. I've been a swashbuckler, a soldier, a bit of a rogue, a berserker, a monk, and a few others when justice, war, or danger arise. Each style blends into another a bit. I've used the sword and shield, fu, and two-handers for years to equal measure depending on which is the best option. I adopted a claidh later than most and then a Maul, but I still prefer the sword and board or Fu against foes not heavily armored or made of stone. I stuck to the sword and board longer than most, but not as long as Cryheart.

4: What percentage of your time do you spend hunting? How do you spend your other time?.

I've never been accused of being a quiet one. I probably talk as much as I hunt. For the past few years I'd probably lean towards keeping active, working bounties for the authorities, scrapping off rust and razor sharpening my skills, or chatting with old and new friends. I'd say I'm always active when I'm awake.

5: What is and/or was your most enjoyable hunting area and why?

It's strange when I've read other interviews. They toss out Darkstone. Darkstone is fine, but I think people forget things as they age. I know I have. I count on my friends to remind me.  The tree Spirits around the Elven Village when Lady Kate and Sylvine would lead groups out, the Ghoul Mound with Thrudh and Zyanna, The Sheruvian Monastary on th' Moon with Cryheart, Ruffelin, and Evialla. Rats and Cave Gnomes with Sporati and all those times at the well with the "Family" like Avantos, Oxxon, etc. The Ledge with Shirkon, and Evia among others. Circling back to Darkstone, I'd have to say Troll Kings. Fighting them, especially in the old days, was always a rush.

6: What do you enjoy most about your time in the lands?

It's always been the people, the stories, the banter, even the arguments.

7: Is there anyone within the lands that you admire? (Any profession) Who and why?

No doubt. Berr, who I called Chief, Thalior for the awe he would inspire, Kate and Mystra for their kindness, Kali for her confident stride, Ruffelin for his guidence, Aonghus for his inspiration, Waldo2 for his service, Morandas and Sylvine for their calculated insanity, Cryheart for his patience, Pie-rat and Plur for the laughs, Shirkon for his friendship, Metadi for his boldness, Dionket for his dignity, Kinshack for the challenge he gave me, Zyanna for her grace, Germinal for his wisdom, Guarrin for his randomness, Tzigfried and Kriztian for their military knowledge, Thrudh, Morgiest, and Clunk for the laughs, Gaq for his stubborness, Tart girl for her treats, and Evialla for her love. I always see people go a bit short on this question. List everyone you can think of! I am forgetting all the people that made me smile and laugh, the ladies that were always wonderful, and some who are muddled in time..

8: What has been your best moment in the lands so far?

To see the start to finish of something. Fight the good fight as they say. The 1st Griffon War, The War of Nations, The 2nd Griffin War, The Vvrael saga, Castle Anwyn, all of my battles against the Dark Assassins, the Leya Quest, Terate and the Vvrael, etc, etc.

9: What has been your worst moment in the lands so far?

All I've forgotten. Stories and people I can't remember. Details I mix up or complete years that have vanished from memory. They weigh heavy on me, but sometimes in the right company a spark will happen and I remember. Those lend hope that we can piece together the past and find a bright, new future. I've become a voracious reader and am working to rekindle mine and others memory of the past so that it won't be forgotten again.

10: What advice would you give to a new warrior?

Keep your own goals in mind, and try to not constantly compare your rate of growth and learning, your achievements, or what you feel you lack to someone else. That only corrupts your heart and drives you to doing things you should not. You should lend aid and seek it, be a companion and not a loner, be courageous and honorable because respect of your peers exceeds strength of your individual.

11: If you had to do it all again, knowing what you now know, would you do anything differently?

I'd have told friends I cared for them more directly so that in times of trouble or darkness we'd have not drifted apart because other priorities drove them and I to withdraw and defend what we perceived without being honest with each other. I tried, but I have failed. Yet, I'd rather learn from failure than to never know it. I think I have taken this advice to heart and in cases where it should be spoken, I have reached out to them

12: Is there anything you want to add to this interview?

Great to be here. History is important. These help us to reconnect with one another even if not in body, at least we can through memory!
